Additionally, many modern preachers adopt motivational, honey-coated messages that soothe rather than challenge, leading followers away from repentance and transformation. Such teachings can lead believers to a shallow understanding of faith, leaving them unprepared to face spiritual deception. In contrast, a true gospel calls us to deep surrender, spiritual maturity, and a life transformed by God’s love and holiness.

- Lack of Wisdom – Proverbs 4:7 says, “Wisdom is the principal thing.” Seeking God’s wisdom equips believers to recognize deception.
- Worldly Preaching – Some preachers prioritise popularity and comfort over truth (2 Timothy 4:3-4), appealing to worldly desires rather than spiritual transformation.
- Love of Money – 1 Timothy 6:10 warns that the love of money can lead to error, with some using ministry for financial gain instead of God’s glory.

Setting aside time to connect with God is the most vital commitment a believer can make, as no one else can replace your personal prayers before God.
While praying for others is powerful and brings blessings, it cannot substitute for the personal relationship you build with God through your own time in prayer. Unfortunately, many churches see high attendance on weekends, but only a few, often older members, attend prayer meetings. This trend reveals a need for greater dedication to prayer among all believers, as it is through regular, personal prayer that faith is deepened and spiritual discernment is sharpened.
Jesus often fasted and prayed alone, setting an example for us. Fasting quiets the demands of the flesh and helps us focus on God’s voice. Together, prayer and fasting strengthen our commitment to God’s will, empowering us to discern truth, grow in love, and walk more fully in faith.
When it comes to petitioning a judge, you would not send a third party to plead on your behalf—you would represent yourself to ensure your message is personal and clear. The same principle applies to prayer: while others can pray for us, there’s no substitute for personally seeking God and bringing our petitions directly to Him.
Prayer is a personal conversation with God, where we open our hearts, express our needs, and listen for His guidance. Fasting adds depth to this practice, helping us focus entirely on God and His purposes. By prioritising this time, we align ourselves with His will, receive spiritual insight, and grow in our love for Him and others.
In a culture where church services often fill with attendees but prayer meetings remain sparse, it’s vital to remember that true spiritual power and growth come from our personal devotion in prayer. This commitment to seek God personally and fervently is what deepens faith and empowers believers to discern truth, overcome challenges, and live a life aligned with God’s heart.
